Playing the card of appealing towards an escape from everyday boredom, the companies are hoping to stimulate sales in a sector that, between highs and lows, has continual need for ever "stronger" novelty, for an increasingly "decisive" boost. And so window displays will be full of vivid, vigorous, intense colours. The pink/orange/red range is acquiring ever more importance, and is associated with the azure/blue/violet band, the tones becoming metallic, the effects iridescent and the tonalities definite.
Naturally the designs are also following this trend : the features are closed, well circumscribed, the graphic figurations vigorous, the decoration energetic. The raw materials are also determining factors : linen, wool, silk, and above all cotton are the prime yarns, and then fabrics in bold matches, the fibres used nearly raw and blended with others having a more refined processing, form fabrics having a strong yet delicate handle, decisive yet sleek, robust yet supple.
Escape then, but also a search for certainty, emphasis and security : certainty that comes a distance, from the depth of cultures, the emphasis of features and colours, and security in the selection of prime and proven raw materials. Exoticism, but with wisdom.
